Are imaware results as accurate as traditional lab test?

Yes. Not only are your results as accurate as traditional lab tests, but we’re actually the first at-home small volume blood testing company to have our data and methods peer-reviewed by the scientific and medical community — which helps validate our claims and our results reports. Learn more about the exact science behind imaware tests.

Are imaware test results reviewed by a doctor?

Yes, all our test results are reviewed by a physician during the lab analysis process to ensure the third party validation of your results.

Can my doctor use imaware results?

Yes. All of our tests are performed by CLIA-certified labs, the gold standard in lab testing quality regulation. Within your results report you will also find detailed information intended for your healthcare professional. They can use this information to interpret your test results clearly. To see an example of this, you can request a sample report at the top of this page.

How do I receive my test results?

You’ll receive an email from us within 7 business days of your sample return. The email will contain a link to view and download your test results on our secure digital health platform once they’ve been analyzed by our labs and reviewed by a doctor.

My state requires physician orders for tests like imaware. Do you provide this for me?

Yes, we provide physician orders for every test in every state (even those that do not require them). You don’t need to get a prescription or pay extra for this service as it’s included in the purchase price of each test.

Who can order an imaware test?

This test is only for adults aged 18 and older. Unfortunately, this test is not available in the state of New York due to state regulations.

How do I check my vitamin D levels at home?

Order your imaware vitamin D test by clicking the “Add to cart” button above. You’ll get the kit in the mail within a few days. Then, simply follow the instructions. You’ll prick your finger using a button on our lancet device (don’t worry, you won’t even see the needle until it’s done!). Then you’ll place a few blood drops into the solution tube, place everything back in the package and send it off to our lab. We provide the return label and packaging to make everything easy for you.

How should I prepare for this test?

You do not need to fast. Please return your sample via delivery carrier on the same day. There’s no need to stop supplementation if you are taking any — it will not skew results.

What will my results tell me?

The 25-hydroxyvitamin D biomarker is the best way to screen for and monitor vitamin D levels. Your results will tell you if you have low vitamin d, or if your vitamin d level is within the target range for adults. Based on these results, you will be able to see more clearly if you are deficient. Your results will help you talk to your physician about a treatment plan, which typically includes dietary changes, lifestyle improvements and supplementation.

What’s the normal range for vitamin D levels?

At least 25 ng/mL is in the normal level for 25-hydroxyvitamin D. However, too much vitamin d, above 60 ng/mL, can have adverse effects like nausea, vomiting or muscle weakness⁹,¹¹. If this test highlights that you are outside of the normal range of vitamin d levels, you can use the results report to engage a medical professional.

Who should take this test?

Vitamin D is an important vitamin that supports bone density, insulin production and immune function. This test is ideal for those who:

  • Have osteoporosis or other bone-health problems
  • Work indoors and rarely spend time outside during the day¹
  • Have conditions that affect fat absorption, including celiac disease or weight-loss surgery¹²
  • Routinely take medications that interfere with vitamin D activity, including anticonvulsants and glucocorticoids
  • Adults that are age 60+¹,¹³
  • Are obese¹
  • Having a darker complexion¹

This test is also ideal for monitoring your vitamin d levels over time as you treat an existing deficiency.
